Neil Diamond, Queen and Tina Turner are among the 2018 recipients of the Recording Academy’s Special Merit Awards.
Those legends, along with drummer Hal Blaine, The Meters, Emmylou Harris, composer John Williams and music executives Seymour Stein and Bill Graham will be honored at a July 14th tribute concert. That performance at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles will be taped for a PBS broadcast later in the year.
Among the presenters:
Micky Dolenz will honor Neil Diamond (whose composition “I’m a Believer” became The Monkees‘ biggest hit).
Trisha Yearwood will salute Emmylou Harris.
Herb Alpert will honor Hal Blaine.
Sammy Hagar will remember the late Bill Graham.
