The shooting of unarmed college students by members of the Ohio National Guard on Monday, May 4, at Kent State The guardsmen fired 67 rounds over a period of 13 seconds, killing four students and wounding nine others.

Shortly after its release, The Guess Who were invited to play at the White House. Because of its supposed anti-American lyrics, Pat Nixon asked that they not play "American Woman".

Spawned the successful group Bachman–Turner Overdrive, when founding member Randy Bachman departed.

The band was inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1987.

The Guess Who broke up in October 1975.
