• This is  the title song from Paul McCartney & Wings' Band on the Run album

• The song has a three-part structure that revolves around the themes of escape and liberation and tells a story about a band being confined to prison and then escaping and going on the run.

• It was the second of five number-one singles for the band.

• In early 1975, Paul McCartney & Wings won the Grammy award for "Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group or Chorus" for Band on the Run.

• Band on the Run was voted 418th on Rolling Stone magazine's revised list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

• It was the last McCartney album issued on the Apple Records label.
