• President Johnson got the nod to run for a full 4-year term after the death of President Kennedy the year before.

• The Rev. Martin Luther King would be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

• Plans to build the World Trade Center are announced.

• MOVIES: “Bikini Beach”, “Dr. Strangelove” and “My Fair Lady” wins an Oscar

• T.V: Gomer, Gilligan and Herman Munster.  

• For kids in 1964 it was Easy Bake, G.I. Joe, Rat Fink or we were tooling around on our Schwinn Sting Ray bikes.  

• The Who, The Kinks and the Moody Blues became Rock & Roll bands.

• “Bikini Beach” director William Asher revealed that the script was originally written for The Beatles. The group had agreed to act in the film but later dropped out as their rapidly growing fame (especially after their 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show) caused their fee to exceed the film's budget.

• In February 1964 The Beatles would appear on the Ed Sullivan show twice!

• When pressed by American journalists in 1966 to reveal the song's "true" meaning, McCartney denied that "Can't Buy Me Love" was about prostitution.

• 1964 was the year of the Beatles and by the beginning of April they’d made their 3rd ascent to the top of the charts with ”Can’t Buy Me Love” your #1 @ 1 from April 1964.
