• Originally recorded in 1963 by the American vocal group The Exciters.
• The band was originally called “The Mann-Hugg Blues Brothers”
• In 1964, the group was asked to provide a new theme for the pop music television programme Ready Steady Go! They responded with "5-4-3-2-1" which, with the help of weekly television exposure, rose to #5 in the UK Singles Chart.
• The song was parodied by the controversial hip hop group 2 Live Crew on their 1988 album Move Somethin',
• Mann went on to write advertising jingles after the group's demise.
