  • The Black Panthers & the National Organization of Women came into being
  • U.S. warplanes bombed Hanoi for the first time.
  • The Road Safety Act is passed which leads to the use of the Breathalyzer.
  • The US Supreme Court rules in the Miranda case that police must inform suspects of their rights before questioning them.
  • J. Edgar Hoover announces all evidence suggests that Lee Harvey Oswald was acting alone.
  • The Merry Pranksters were a group of people who formed around American author Ken Kesey, that promoted the use of psychedelic drugs.

FADS and ENTERTAINMENT

  • T.V: Batman premiered on ABC for two and a half seasons. The first episode of Star Trek premiered in September.
  • MOVIES: The Sand Pebbles, Grand Prix,  Born Free
  • John Lennon boasted that the Beatles were “More popular than Jesus” and that set off a bunch of protests & record burnings in U.S.A.  
  • NFL & AFL finally merged
  • Hot Wheels were the hot toys & we liked getting all tied up playing Twister.

  • Walt Disney: (Walter Elias Disney) December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966. He has won 26 Academy Awards out of 59 nominations, including a record four in one year.
