• The Warren Commission releases its report, concluding that Lee Harvey Oswald, acting alone, assassinated President John F. Kennedy.

• North Vietnam allegedly fires on a US destroyer in the Gulf of Tonkin Incident.

 

FADS and ENTERTAINMENT

• MOVIES: “Bikini Beach”  “Dr. Strangelove”  “My Fair Lady” wins an Oscar

• T.V.: “Shindig” “Gomer Pyle” & “Gilligan’s Island” all premiered on TV.

• Steven Tyler forms his first serious band, The Strangeurs, in Sunapee, NH, in which he is the drummer.

• The GTO was acknowledged as the first “Muscle Car” but it was a vehicle nicknamed “Pony” car but the Ford Mustang was a huge success

• Comedian Lenny Bruce is convicted of obscenity
