• Sam Cooke (born Samuel Cook on January 22, 1931 – died December 11, 1964) Bertha Franklin, manager of the motel, told police that she shot and killed Cooke in self-defense because he had threatened her.
• Ian Fleming (28 May 1908 – 12 August 1964) was a British author and journalist. Created the character of James Bond and chronicling Bond's adventures in twelve novels and nine short stories.

• The title was inspired by Roy Orbison's wife Claudette. She interrupted a conversation to announce she was going out; when Roy asked if she was okay for cash, his co-writer Bill Dees interjected "A pretty woman never needs any money."
