RUSH: It's 2112 Again

Rush is re-releasing 2112 on Tuesday.

Last week it was announced that Rush will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next April, and this Tuesday, they are re-releasing their fourth album, 2112, in numerous deluxe formats with bonus material.

Released in 1976, 2112 is not only the album that has been described as the first progressive metal album, but it was also the one that saved Rush from being dropped by Mercury Records.

Geddy Lee tells us the album "opened a lot of doors accidentally in the sense that even though it was not really considered a very commercial album...it had something about it that was vital and connected with people... and it created a whole new wave of fans for us."

February February 1st, 2012 was referred to by some as National Rush Day 2/1/12. The same could be said for this Friday, the 21st day of the 12th month -- 2112.
