The 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles' first single, "Love Me Do" -- October 5th, 1962 -- will be commemorated with the release of a limited-edition replica of the 45 rpm vinyl single this Friday, October 5th.
The single version features Ringo Starr on drums, and the B-side contains “P.S. I Love You.” The version on their Please Please Me album featured session drummer Andy White, who was brought in a week after the initial studio session because producer George Martin wasn't happy with Ringo's performance. Ringo played tambourine on White's session. And the first version of the song featured original drummer Pete Best, but it wasn't released until 1995 on Anthology One.
The commemorative vinyl single is available in The Beatles' official online store.
