BEACH BOYS: Reunion Tour Begins Tomorrow |
|
The Beach Boys' reunion tour kicks off tomorrow in Tucson, Arizona, and Al Jardine says it "will be very special." He tells us working with Brian Wilson "brings Mike [Love] and me into another dimension that we haven't experienced in quite a while." Al explains that Wilson wants the performances to sound just like the recordings, with less of the freelancing many bands do. Though the show will include video -- especially when they pay tribute to Carl and Dennis Wilson -- don't expect a ton of production. Al says, "We're pretty much known for our singing, [as opposed to] a lot of groups that are a lot more theatrical or [have] some dance movies." Al's recent solo release, A Postcard From California, serves as a good warm-up to the reunion. The track "Don't Fight the Sea" features guest vocals from Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and the late Carl Wilson, who worked with Al on an early version of the song in the 1990s. |
