ALICE COOPER: Names His Favorite Baseball Movie |
|
Baseball has always been fertile ground for the movies. From the biographical Babe Ruth Story to the comic Major League and Damn Yankees, the inspirational Field of Dreams and the recent Moneyball, the national pastime has often spun box office gold. But none of those float Alice Cooper's boat as much as Fear Strikes Out. The legendary shock rocker -- who owns the Cooperstown sports bar near the Arizona Diamondbacks home in Phoenix -- tells Rolling Stone he'd choose Anthony Perkins' portrayal of '50s star Jimmy Piersall. Cooper explains, "Jimmy was bipolar and went absolutely crazy. He would fight, he would climb the fences and would have all kinds of psychotic episodes on the field, which I really admire in a ball player." |
