GREGG ALLMAN: Back on Track

Gregg Allman looks to be okay after undergoing tests on his heart last Friday at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He said he was experiencing erratic heartbeats, and given his recent surgery for a hernia, he wanted to make sure everything was okay. As a result he had to postpone this week's promo tour for his autobiography, My Cross to Bear (in stores today), but is starting to reschedule some of the appearances for next week.

As for the memoir, Rolling Stone has posted an excerpt in which Allman writes about his first date with Cher. He says he picked her up at her L.A. home in a limo, but she told him she didn't want to go in the "funeral car" and gave him the keys to her Ferrari. They had dinner at a Moroccan restaurant but had nothing to say to each other. They both agreed it was a terrible date but did go out again. Of course, they should have just called it a day after that first date as their marriage lasted only four years. Cher was his fourth wife and he recently split from wife number-six.
