A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN: Leaving Broadway in February
A Night With Janis Joplin will drop its final curtain on Broadway. But its producers say the show isn't leaving New York. Billboard reports that the bio-musical with Mary Bridget Davies as the late blues-rocker will vacate its home at the Lyceum Theater during February -- but they intend to move it to an off-Broadway house to resume its run.
Since opening last October, the musical has had disappointing ticket sales. Despite discounting many seats, the show has played to just two-thirds capacity, far below such other rock-based productions as Mamma Mia, Motown: The Musical and Rock of Ages.
