PATTI SMITH: Singing for Boardwalk Empire

Patti Smith has recorded a new version of the early 20th century standard "I Ain't Got Nobody" for this Sunday's season finale of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire. Smith grew up in southern New Jersey, about 50 miles from Atlantic City, where the show is set. She's not the first rocker to record the song: following the lead of big band singer Louis Prima, David Lee Roth had a solo hit with it in a medley with "Just a Gigolo" back in 1985.
