BONNIE RAITT: Gives Old Bandmate A Birthday Treat
Former Bonnie Raitt guitarist joins her onstage on his 60th birthday.
Former Bonnie Raitt guitarist Johnny Lee Schell celebrated his 60th birthday on Saturday, and since Bonnie happened to be playing the Greek Theatre in his hometown of L.A. and he was in the audience, she called him up to help her out on "Thing Called Love" from her 1989 album, Nick of Time.
"Sixty, baby. Welcome to the deep end," Raitt told Schell, who toured with her and played on all her albums from 1983's Green Light through 1991's Luck of the Draw, including Nick of Time, which sold five million copies and resurrected her career. He's also backed John Fogerty, Joe Cocker, Taj Mahal, Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan, Melissa Etheridge and others.
