The BBC 6 music radio channel came under a little hot water after playing "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendrix not long after a report about Paralympian Oscar Pistorius allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steemkamp. The song has a lyric about a man shooting his girl. "Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand? I'm going out to shoot my old lady, you know I caught her messing around with another man."
A BBC spokesman says, "In light of the nature of the news story, we apologize for any offense caused by the proximity of the song 'Hey Joe' to the bulletin. An on-air apology was made immediately the mistake was realized."
