BEATLES: Plates from Lennon Book Auctioned, Mad Men Spends Big on "Tomorrow" |
|
Proving again there is no shortage of what Beatles fans consider collectible, the printing plates from John Lennon's first book will be auctioned later this month. In those pre-computerized days, the metal panels transferred the text and illustrations from John Lennon In His Own Write to paper. A spokesman for Omega Auctions of Stockport, England says they've "done research and we have not found anything like this to come up for sale before." They're expecting to bring in between $5,000 and $8,000 when the bidding takes place May 19th. In other Beatles news, it reportedly cost $250,000 to license "Tomorrow Never Knows" for the final scene of Sunday night's episode of Mad Men.
