BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: Paying Tribute to Himself |

NBC's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will honor Bruce Springsteen with a weeklong tribute starting tonight through Friday, and joining in will be Springsteen. The Boss and The E Street Band will perform two songs tonight, and then return as the show's only guests on Friday, Late Night's third anniversary. In between will be country singer Kenny Chesney tomorrow night, who will do "I'm on Fire" off the Born in the U.S.A. album, and Elvis Costello, backed by Fallon's house band The Roots, will do "Brilliant Disguise" off of Tunnel of Love on Thursday. No word yet on who will perform Wednesday. This will be Springsteen's second and third appearances on the show following his debut on November 16th, 2010 when he and Fallon, dressed as Neil Young, performed a parody of the pop hit "Whip My Hair." The tribute is in support of Springsteen's new album, Wrecking Ball, in stores March 6th. Springsteen starts his second week of streaming a song a day off the album on his website. Today it's the title track, which he first debuted in October 2009 while playing the final shows at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, which was torn down shortly thereafter. He says he decided to name the album Wrecking Ball because it reflects the "flat destruction of some American ideals and values over the last 30 years. It seemed like a good metaphor."
