Paul Dano will play the young Brian Wilson in an upcoming biopic. The Hollywood Reporter says Wilson and his wife Melinda have cut a deal with director Bill Pohlad for Love and Mercy, which will focus on Brian's mental health problems, his departure from The Beach Boys and recovery since marrying his current wife. A second actor will be cast to portray the older Wilson.

Dano has starred in such independent films as Meek's Cutoff, and Ruby Sparks and had supporting roles in last year's Looper, as well as There Will be Blood and Cowboys and Aliens.
