BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: Opens for Himself |
| Those who showed up early at Bruce Springsteen's concert Friday at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles were treated to a surprise opening act -- Bruce Springsteen. Well over an hour before the 8:40 start time, Springsteen was seen giving his family members a tour of the stage. But seeing fans filing in, he grabbed an acoustic guitar and sang "For You."
The actual show contained two more tour premieres -- "No Surrender" (which began the set) and "Bobby Jean," both off of Born in the U.S.A. As he did Thursday, Tom Morello -- who plays on the Wrecking Ball album -- sat in for five songs -- "Death to My Hometown," "Jack of All Trades," "The Ghost of Tom Joad," "Land of Hope and Dreams" and "Tenth Avenue Freeze-out."
Springsteen and the E Street Band flew from L.A. to New Orleans for an appearance at the annual Jazz and Heritage Festival yesterday. Tomorrow night it's back to New Jersey for the finale to the first U.S. leg -- his first-ever show at the Prudential Center in Newark. |
