ERIC BURDON: Next Memoir to Focus on Growing Up in Post-WW2 Britain
Eric Burdon is writing another memoir.
Eric Burdon is writing another memoir. To keep it from being just a rehash of his previous two, he'll focus on his childhood in the Newcastle region of England. He recalls the years just after World War Two in the late '40s and '50s, as "grey and black... the filth and the dirt from the bombings and demolished buildings. It was awful. Those dark memories [are] what made us want to get the hell out of there, as fast as possible."
When he arrived in New York in 1964, he "saw in color for the first time in my life." Suffering from asthma since childhood, clean air has always been a priority. That's a big reason why he settled years ago in the desert in the Joshua Tree area of Southern California.
