CALIFORNIA SAGA: Beach Boys Offspring Off to a Promising Start |
|
Billy Hinsche tells us California Saga's mission is "to do many of the unheard, or never-before-performed, songs of The Beach Boys." And it's clearly a family affair -- with the children of Brian and Carl Wilson and Mike Love, as well as Hinsche, who is a longtime Beach Boys tour band member, occasional studio player and brother-in-law to Carl. He was asked by his nephew Justyn Wilson to come aboard as keyboardist and vocalist. The "kids" debuted at the Hollywood Bowl on June 2nd, performing "Friends" with The Beach Boys. The next night, in Irvine, they did a seven-song set that included "Little Bird," "Analee the Healer" and "Until I Die." Hinsche says that the good press and positive fan reaction makes it appear that California Saga is off to a good start. California Saga will be opening for the Beach Boys' last U.S. show of the 50th anniversary tour -- Sunday July 15th at Harvey's Stateline in Lake Tahoe. |
