DEEP PURPLE: The Business of Hard Rock and Metal

 

Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan will talk about his business experience in the music industry on June 19th in Dartford, England. The seminars are being organized by Peter Cook, a former manager who who wrote the book Punk Rock People Management, a guide to "hiring, inspiring and firing staff." Also participating is former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Bernie Torme, who says, "The music business is a great teacher of life skills such as negotiating, marketing, teamwork, high performance and so on, both how to do them well and occasionally the dark side of the force."

Former Deep Purple keyboardist Jon Lord will release Concerto For Group and Orchestra in September. Originally recorded by Purple in 1969, this new version was done with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and features appearances by Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson, Joe Bonamassa and Deep Purple guitarist Steve Morse. The release will be accompanied by a documentary film.
