VAN HALEN: Roth Still Can't Get Them There |
|
Van Halen's first studio album with David Lee Roth in 28 years didn't have quite enough juice to de-throne Grammy queen Adele. A Different Kind of Truth will debut at number-two on next week's Billboard 200, with 187,000 copies sold, according to SoundScan. (Adele's pre-Grammy promo blitz helped her sales jump 95-percent to 237,000 copies last week.) In Canada, A Different Kind of Truth makes its chart debut at number-three with 16,000 copies sold. Van Halen has never had a number-one album with Roth, though their last studio album with him, 1984, was stuck at number-two for five weeks. A Different Kind of Truth is their 16th consecutive Top 10 album. Their only release that didn't crack the Top 10 was their 1978 self-titled debut. Of course, that wasn't really a chart failure -- it did go on to sell more than 10-million copies. Van Halen starts their tour Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. |
