BEATLES: He Said, She Said, Who Cares

Yoko Ono once blamed Paul McCartney for the break-up of The Beatles.

Recently Paul McCartney gave an interview in which he said Yoko Ono was not responsible for the breakup of The Beatles, despite that arguably being her biggest claim to fame. An interview with Yoko from the early '70s has just been unearthed in which she blames Macca for the group's demise. She says, "The Beatles were getting very independent. Each one of them was getting independent. John, in fact, was not the first, who wanted to leave The Beatles. We saw Ringo one night with [his first wife] Maureen, and he came to John and me and said he wanted to leave. George Harrison was next, and then John. Paul was the only one trying to hold The Beatles together. But the other three thought Paul would hold the Beatles together as his band. They were getting to be like Paul's band, which they didn't like." In fact, it was Paul who made the first move to dissolve their partnership in 1970.
