Down With Dick

KISS: There for Dick

Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley were among a select group of folks invited to a private memorial last Thursday in Los Angeles for Dick Clark, who passed away last month following a heart attack.
  • Simmons says, "He was a good man... We were blessed to have known him. I have learned humility from a man who never wavered from offering a kind word."
  • Stanley adds, "Dick was a true icon who changed the world of rock and roll while making a career of using his love of music to make icons of others. To see rock's greats spanning five decades humbled and giving thanks to this giant only underlined once again the impact this wonderful man had on so many. Any of the current Idol/Voice-type shows wouldn't exist without the trail that Dick Clark blazed to make them possible."

The list of attendees also included Chubby Checker, Gary "U.S." Bonds, Stevie Wonder, producer Jerry Weintraub, David Foster, Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Larry King, Marie Osmond and Frankie Valli.
