Dylan's turn on T.V.

BOB DYLAN: Why "Willie" for Marty?

In case you missed it Thursday night, Bob Dylan made a rare live TV appearance when he paid musical tribute to director Martin Scorsese at the Broadcast Film Critics Association's Critics Choice Awards in Hollywood, where Scorsese picked up the Critics' Choice Music and Film Award. But instead of playing "Like a Rolling Stone," which Scorsese featured in 1989's New York Stories, he did "Blind Willie McTell," which wasn't even part of Scorsese's 2005 documentary on Dylan, No Direction Home.

Dylan also appeared in The Last Waltz, Scorsese's documentary of the last show by the original lineup of The Band, which was made before Dylan wrote and recorded "Blind Willie McTell."
