BEATLES: New Book About Their Solo Music
A new book covers the post-Beatles work of John, Paul, George and Ringo.
Arguing that The Beatles story "was only half-told at the dawn of 1970," an author has written a book about their music after the breakup.
Andrew Grant Jackson's Still the Greatest: The Essential Songs of the Beatles’ Solo Careers reviews the Fab Four's prolific post-Beatles work, which has yielded some 70 albums and 900 songs.
Jackson lays out a blueprint for fans to create their own post-Beatles albums. He explains, "We won’t be receiving any new music from the band, but you can create new Beatles albums simply by taking John’s five best tunes from each year, Paul’s five best, and a couple of George and Ringo’s. It’s the same album formula the band employed while together."
Still the Greatest also considers their collaborations with Jeff Lynne, Elvis Costello, Phil Spector, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Joe Walsh.
