ZZ TOP: Wouldn't Be Sharp Dressed Without the Beard
ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons says he won't shave his beard for a million bucks.
ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons says he won't shave his beard for a million bucks. He says that he and ZZ bassist Dusty Hill refused an $1 million offer from Gillette, the razor company, to shave their long trademark beards for a commercial. He explains, "Even adjusted for inflation, this isn’t going to fly. The prospect of seeing oneself in the mirror clean-shaven is too close to a Vincent Price film. It’s a prospect not to be contemplated --no matter the compensation.” However, Hill admits that if he were to take up acting, the beard would limit his roles to either an Amish dope dealer or a biker.
ZZ Top start a European tour on July 16th in Moscow.
