GOLDEN GODS AWARDS: Simmons to Be Honored, Van Halen Among Top Nominees

Gene Simmons of KISS will receive this year's Golden God Award at the fourth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, taking place at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on April 11th. The news came at yesterday's nominees announcement at the nearby Grammy Museum, which will unveil an exhibit titled Golden Gods: The History of Heavy Metal on the same day as the awards show.

Wrestler-rocker Chris Jericho, who'll host the ceremony for the third straight year, announced the nominees and performers, with the help of a stage-full of musicians that included Alice Cooper, former Black Sabbath and Heaven and Hell drummer Vinny Appice [pr: AP-uh-cee], and a past and present member of Ozzy Osbourne's band, Zakk Wylde and Blasko.

As for the nominees, Foo Fighters share the top of the list with four; Van Halen has three and Megadeth, two. Headbangers can check out the entire slate and vote in each category starting today at GoldenGodsAwards.com.
