Todd Rundgren is pleased that there's finally something positive to report about Badfinger, whose hit "Baby Blue" he produced and saw rocket back to prominence thanks to Sunday's Breaking Bad finale.
He recalls the British power pop band as "one of these kind of tragedies… one of those head-shakers." Reached by The Hollywood Reporter at his home in Hawaii, the singer-songwriter-producer added, "They had a lot of problems dealing with management and that sort of thing." Those issues contributed to the suicide of lead singer/primary writer Pete Ham.
Rundgren adds, "So a lot of the time when the band’s name comes up, it’s usually in this context of a ‘If only’ kind of thing: ‘What if’ this, ‘what if’ that. And it’s kind of interesting now to have the band getting some recognition in a different context. Good for them!”
