Grateful Dead on the road...

GRATEFUL DEAD: A Long Strange Trip...To Cleveland

The Grateful Dead will soon go on display in Cleveland at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an institution they were inducted into in 1994. Grateful Dead: The Long, Strange Trip will open on April 12th as a part of the 2012 Rock Hall Induction Week events. Dead drummer Mickey Hart and The Mickey Hart Band will perform on the Rock Hall's main stage the night before.

This exhibit will feature numerous instruments used by the band, elements from of their legendary Wall of Sound PA system, finished and working manuscripts for classic songs, including "Truckin'," "Box of Rain" and "Sugaree," handwritten notes from legendary taper and their late archivist Dick Latvala, artifacts from original sound designer Owsley "Bear" Stanley, the late promoter Bill Graham's Father Time robe and the Grateful Dead Hotline answering machine. The Grateful Dead Archive at the University of California-Santa Cruz has loaned a significant number of these items, which will be on display at the Hall through December.
