GRATEFUL DEAD: Welcome to Their Vault |
|
The University at Santa Cruz will take the wraps off the Grateful Dead archive on June 29th, although officials at the school's library say that is not a firm date. The Dead donated their archive to the school in 2008, who set aside a room in its library that they have christened "Dead Central." That is where both academic researchers and the public will have access to the archive. Included in the archive are business records and correspondence, photographs, show files with tickets and backstage passes, promotional items, press clips, awards, photos, unreleased videos, interviews and TV appearances, all of which will be available for viewing. There will also be stage backdrops, stained-glass pieces and props from live performances. If you don't want to wait until June, you can see some of the archive on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Add Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart to the list of artists holding their own musical instruction camp. He will hold his at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York from September 3rd through the 4th. Other artists with their own camps include Todd Rundgren and Jorma Kaukonen.
