BRIAN MAY: Happy 65th
Queen's Brian May celebrates number 65 Thursday.
Queen guitarist Brian May celebrates his 65th birthday today (Thursday), but it won't be all parties and cake.
In an exclusive email exchange yesterday he told us, "I will be working for [my anti-wildlife hunting organization] Save-Me, lobbying across all British political parties. Why? One, we are trying to secure the future of the Hunting Act (which makes fox hunting, hare-coursing and stag hunting with dogs illegal -- the present British coalition government want to repeal the act and bring back blood sports. And two, we are trying to stop the hideous cull of badgers which our government has set for this autumn … just after the London Olympic Games. Badgers are blamed for the spread of bovine tuberculosis -- but in fact this slaughter is likely to make the situation worse. The government, making what it sees as a re-election-winning decision, is going against public opinion, all the available scientific evidence and any ethical considerations whatever. So that's my birthday!"
Enjoy it Brian, you are one of the music industry's true gentlemen.
