Happy Birthday Jerry!

Jerry Garcia would have turned 70 on today (Wednesday, August 1st).

Today (Wednesday, August 1st) would have been Jerry Garcia's 70th birthday, and there will be a few tributes for the Grateful Dead leader. Tonight The Grateful Dead Movie will be shown in theaters across the country. And starting Friday, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will pay tribute all weekend long with Dead drummer Bill Kreutzmann making an appearance there on Friday with his band, 7 Walkers. There will also be the screening of Move Me Brightly, a special Garcia tribute recorded at Bob Weir's TRI Studios featuring Weir, the Garcia family and many of his musician friends. The Hall will also feature screenings of the films Dead Ahead and Anthem to Beauty. Garcia and the Dead were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1994 and Garcia died on August 9th, 1995 from a heart attack while in drug rehab.
