The widow of Dee Murray, Elton John's longtime bassist, passed away following a fall on Christmas. Maria Gombatz Murray was 54. Dee died in 1992 after suffering a stroke, and Maria had recently begun selling some of his belongings on eBay.

Former KISS and current Grand Funk Railroad guitarist Bruce Kulick got engaged to his girlfriend, Lisa Lane, in London on Christmas.

Steven Tyler rang in the New Year in Maui, performing with Alice Cooper and "Weird Al" Yankovic at the Mala restaurant.
