Sting, May & The Beatles
Sting performed "Fields of Gold" last week at the Los Angeles memorial service for A&M Records executive Gil Friesen. Bryan Adams was there, too, and sang "Heaven." Also in attendance were the other members of The Police -- Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland.
Queen guitarist Brian May pays tribute on his website to Troggs' singer Reg Presley -- who died this week from cancer. May says, "The Troggs gave us all cause to smile and rock out. And Reg was a great character -- as well as a damn decent songwriter."
San Francisco's Candlestick Park, where The Beatles played their final concert in August 1966, will be torn down a year from now. The wind-swept stadium's final tenants, the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, will play the 2013 season there before moving to a new facility nearing completion in Santa Clara, 45 miles to the south.
