They say death comes in three, and this time it's a member of the Iron Maiden family who has left. Former drummer Clive Burr passed away Tuesday night in his sleep at age 56. He had Multiple Sclerosis. Burr joined Maiden in 1979 and played on their first three albums -- 1980's Iron Maiden, 1981's Killers and 1982's The Number of the Beast. His death follows that of former Ten Years After singer-guitarist Alvin Lee on March 6th and former Yes guitarist Peter Banks on the 7th.
Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen will be in Austin, Texas on Thursday to perform once again with Dave Grohl and his Sound City Players at the South by Southwest music conference. Also playing with Nielsen and Grohl will be Stevie Nicks and John Fogerty. Stevie will also do a SXSW interview on Thursday at the Austin Convention Center.
Rainbow's Live in Munich 1977 will be re-released on CD, DVD and vinyl by Eagle Rock on April 30th. This is the band's only complete concert to be filmed with the classic lineup of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, singer Ronnie James Dio and drummer Cozy Powell.
