Deep Purple singer Ian Gillan and former Purple bassist Glenn Hughes have been added to the Ronnie James Dio tribute album being put together by his widow and manager, Wendy Dio. It will be out later this year and will also feature contributions from Rob Halford, Alice Cooper, Sebastian Bach, Dave Grohl, Metallica and others.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd hosted Ferrari Day earlier this month in his hometown of Tauranga, New Zealand. 30 Ferraris were on display, including two of his own, and proceeds went to a local charity.

Billy Joel made a rare concert appearance the other night when he joined classical comedy team Igudesman and Joo at New York's Carnegie Hall. Billy jokingly stormed the stage to interrupt their performance of his "Baby Grand," and then had a piano brought out so he could show them how it's done. Hyung-ki Joo played on Billy's classical album, Fantasies and Delusions.

A private memorial for Davy Jones was held in California on April 15th. Along with surviving members of The Monkees, on hand were three of Davy's daughters, Neil Sedaka and Keith Allison. Pictures from it have been posted on a Monkees fansite.

Country-rock bassist Chris Ethridge has died at 65. He was an original member of The Flying Burrito Brothers, and also played in The International Submarine Band as well as with Burritos founder Gram Parsons, Willie Nelson, Booker T. Jones, Ry Cooder, Randy Newman and Graham Nash, notably on Nash's Top 40 single "Chicago."
