Paul McCartney took time out from rehearsing for his closing slot at Friday's London Olympics opening ceremony to attend the graduation ceremony today (Wednesday) at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, the school he founded in his hometown of Liverpool. The ceremony is normally held on the last Friday in July, but was moved up because of Macca's Olympics performance.
Despite owning his own publishing company, MPL Communications, Paul McCartney has signed on with the Kobalt Music Group to manage the copyrights of his solo material outside North America and the U.K. Kobalt claims to pay its songwriters close to 25 percent more than other publishers because of its streamlined structure and better tracking of song plays around the world.
Brian May says he came down with a virus on the last night of the short Queen tour with Adam Lambert, and now, over a week later he is still "coughing up green gloop every few minutes … But I have not been idle …. just constantly exhausted." May is due to deliver the keynote address at the National Stereoscopic Association Convention in Costa Mesa, California on Saturday.
Jimmy Buffett will open a Margaritaville casino and entertainment complex in Atlantic City in May of next year. It will be part of the Resorts hotel and casino. Margaritaville restaurants are located throughout the country and this newest casino will join ones in Las Vegas; Biloxi, Mississippi; Bossier City, Louisiana, which is also scheduled to open next year; as well as ones in the Caribbean, Mexico, Panama and Canada with Australia coming soon.
