Paul McCartney, King Crimson, Bon Jovi

Paul McCartney was in Paris on Saturday afternoon to receive the Legion of Honor award, but that night he was back in London, where he sat in with Blur frontman Damon Albarn and his African Express, which featured another special guest, Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones. Macca performed two Wings songs -- “Coming Up” and “Goodnight Tonight.”

Is King Crimson’s Robert Fripp done with music? He tells the Financial Times, “My life as a professional musician is a joyless exercise in futility. I couldn’t concentrate on music, so I made the choice to give up my career as a musician in the frontline to deal with the business. It’s an interesting strategy for keeping the music moving in the direction it goes -- that whenever you get close to success, the band splits up. But it’s a strategy that does work. Though it’s one that you won’t find in ‘How to Succeed in the Music Industry.’ And I can guarantee it will piss off people who are looking forward to having a good career.”

Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan will team up with concert pianist Elaine Kwon this Thursday night for Savor Your Senses, a music and wine tasting event at the Gershwin Hotel in New York.
