DEAN TORRENCE: His Night with The Beach Boys

Dean Torrence says he "was very honored" to be asked to join The Beach Boys during last Sunday's show at Irvine, California. While perceived as their surf-rock rival, the surviving half of Jan and Dean has long been a Beach Boys' ally -- he sang lead on their remake of "Barbara Ann," and even designed the band's iconic swirling neon logo.

Recently, he was asked to design a logo for California Saga, the ensemble of Beach Boys offspring such as Wendy and Carnie Wilson and Christian Love that debuted last weekend and opened the Irvine show. But Dean was surprised that after guesting on "Barbara Ann," the guys asked him "to get his ass back on stage" to finish out the encore.

Dean also brought his camera along to capture the magic of the night and was nice enough to share a couple of pictures with us.
