BEATLES: Other Stars Re-Create Their First Album for the BBC
The BBC honored The Beatles 50 years to the day after recording their first album Please Please Me. Saluting one of rock's most magical days, the British public broadcaster booked Abbey Road Studios for 11 hours today (Monday) and invited a range of British artists -- most notably Paul Carrack, the voice of Ace's "How Long," Squeeze's "Tempted" and Mike & the Mechanics' "It's Gonna Take a Miracle" -- to perform the 14 songs from the disc in the amount of time the Beatles needed. (Actually the Fab Four had already completed "Love Me Do," "Please Please Me" and their B-sides -- they'd been released as their first two singles.)
