BADFINGER: Honors and Rarities Release for Pete Ham
Badfinger co-founder Pete Ham will be posthumously honored in his hometown of Swansea, Wales. A blue plaque will be unveiled at the town's railroad station on April 27th. That evening a concert at Swansea's Grand Theatre featuring onetime Badfinger member Bob Jackson, along with Ron Griffiths and David Jenkins from Ham's earlier band The Iveys.
Also coming in 2013, Ham's estate is releasing a collection of his early demo recordings as a fundraiser for a Welsh children's charity. Badfinger biographer and Ham estate representative Dan Matovina tells the BBC, "Pete Ham was not just a wonderful musical talent, he was a wonderful, caring man. He loved children and would visit orphanages and play with the children."
With Badfinger, Ham co-wrote and recorded such classics as "Day After Day" and "Without You" -- the latter, famously covered by Harry Nilsson and Mariah Carey.
