|
Sirs Paul McCartney and Elton John were among the headliners at last night's Diamond Jubliee Concert in honor of Queen Elizabeth the Second. Elton told SkyTV he was thrilled to play the gig, saying, "I'm more jazzed about this than anything else" he's done in years. His set included "Your Song," "I'm Still Standing" and "Crocodile Rock." A Dame on the bill in a sea of Sirs, Shirley Bassey appropriately performed "Diamonds Are Forever." Sir Paul's set included "Live and Let Die," "Magical Mystery Tour" and "All My Loving," which was followed by a fireworks display. McCartney joked, "The queen has asked me to tell you to please leave in an orderly fashion -- or she'll be forced to unleash the corgis." The concert, which also featured Tom Jones, Cliff Richard, Stevie Wonder and others, will be broadcast tonight at 9 ET on ABC. Also yesterday, McCartney confirmed that he's booked to play the closing summaries of the Summer Olympics in London, according to Billboard. Source: USA Today |
