A judge in Virginia has tossed out the $50-million lawsuit filed against Journey guitarist Neal Schon and the band by Tareq Salahi, the estranged husband of Schon's girlfriend, reality TV star Michaele [pr: mih-KALE-uh] Salahi. Tareq claims that he and Michaele were poised to make a bundle from multiple TV offers -- until she ran off with Schon. Tareq also accused Neal of publicly humiliating him and demanded at least $50 million for emotional distress, conspiracy to defame and interfering with a contract. Plus, he wanted $450,000 in punitive damages.
Earlier today (Monday), Dennis Hupp, Circuit Court Judge for Warren County, Virginia, dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice -- meaning Tareq can't re-file it. Schon's lawyer, Bruce Blanchard, says, "As we have said all along, this case did not have a basis in law or in fact, and was not worthy of the court’s time.” His partner, Stephen Cobb added, "Today is more than a win for our clients -- it is a victory for common sense.”
Schon is getting ready for the Journey tour with Pat Benatar and Loverboy, which starts July 21st in Devore, California. But first he'll be shooting a video for "The Calling," the title track to his new album, on Wednesday and Thursday. The album will be out later this month.
