LESLIE WEST: Conquers the Mountain |
|
Less than a year after having his right leg amputated above the knee, an emotional Leslie West took the stage Tuesday night at B.B. King's in New York. Sitting in a wheel chair, West started the show with The Impressions' "People Get Ready," but a quarter of the way through he became emotional, stopped playing and said, "Thank you very much for coming out tonight," to which the audience gave him a standing ovation. West canceled his tour last fall because he could not find a vehicle to accommodate his wheelchair. In December, he was given an MV-1, the first vehicle designed specifically for wheelchair accessibility. The tour, with former Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth, moves to Sellersville, Pennsylvania tonight (Friday) and Sayreville, New Jersey on Saturday. |
