THE BEATLES: And One More Mistake

Another mistake found on 50th anniversary release of The Beatles' "Love Me Do."

Not only was last Friday's release of the 50th anniversary edition of The Beatles' first single, "Love Me Do," not the original single, but the catalog number on B-side was also wrong. The label on the A-side for “Love Me Do” has the number used on the original release, R4949, but the B-side for “P.S., I Love You” has the number listed as R4717, which was the number originally assigned to the Parlophone Records single of “Portrait of My Love” by Matt Monro.

The single, which was pulled by EMI after the mistake came to light, is quickly becoming a collector's edition with prices online starting at $295 and going as high as $800 for a Buy It Now on eBay.
