PAUL McCARTNEY: Top 5 Kisses |
|
Paul McCartney's new standards collection, Kisses on the Bottom, will debut at number-five on next week's Billboard album chart after selling 74,000 copies its first week in stores. It's his 18th top 10 solo release. McCartney's last album, 2007's Memory Almost Full, debuted at number-three after selling 160,000 copies its first week. That was his second-highest debut in the SoundScan era, behind 1997's Flaming Pie, which checked in at number-two. McCartney tells us picking songs to record for the album was "quite a casual process." He had a list, but also sought advice from his producer, Tommy LiPuma; Diana Krall, who plays on the album; and a woman in his New York office. Following his performance on the Grammys Sunday night in Los Angeles, McCartney attended the Foo Fighters' after-party at the Fig and Olive restaurant, where he had dinner with Bruce Springsteen and Johnny Depp. It was vegetarian fare with pasta and vegetable paella. McCartney is on the cover of the March 1st issue of Rolling Stone, which will be on newsstands tomorrow. |
